Hello Team,

I am getting an error "Throttling limit is exceeded by the operation" while sorting data in SharePoint view through CRM Online 2015.

We have SharePoint and CRM Online configured using Server Side Integration. The parent SharePoint document contains more then 5k documents. Navigate to SharePoint document through CRM, load all associated document to specific CRM record. The issue start when we try to sort documents through its modified date. If we hit 'Open in SharePoint' through CRM and then sort data using modified on in SharePoint, it also works without any issue.

Please suggest the resolution / work around / action plan.

Regards,

Daivat Vartak.

    Hi

I think the error is coming from SharePoint. Please see the link below.

    thanks

I am not able to reproduced the issue in direct SharePoint. It only encounter in CRM while sorting data other then name. Creating new custom view to sort data dose not resolve the issue.

    Please Suggest.

If you have more than 5000 items in a document library (irrespective of how they are divided into folders/document locations in CRM) you can still view documents in a CRM view but if you try to sort by any column other than location like name/content type etc. you'll receive this error. It is coming from Sharepoint's CAML query limit.

This is documented in the SDK - see the section on Resource Throttling - technet.microsoft.com/.../dn792527.aspx

The only work around is to create separate document libraries to keep the number of items below 5000 but I find that sorting in CRM isn't really needed since users can use the 'Open in SharePoint' button if they want to do more advanced views of the documents.

    Hope this answers your question.
