Configuration package for only one table

Hi All,

I am trying to add three columns to Purchase Prices table. My question would be: is it better to add the columns as dimensions

Also I created a new package with only the Purchase Price table. Should it include all the other tables as well?

Any guidance would be appreciated

    Hi Mr.Zhu,

Thanks for the reply. I have indeed created them as fields.

Thanks for the reply. Purchase Price table did indeed have a dependency on Item table. So missed out on adding prices for any new item numbers. Currently fixing it so we can add the prices for those items as well. Will remember next time. First time creating a configuration package

Hi, you can use an unlimited amount of dimensions in BC.

But if this field needs to be used in other reports, query and so on, or needs to be transferred to other pages, it is much more convenient to add it directly to the table.

    Hope this helps as well.

    Thanks.

    Hi

it depends, if these new 3 columns are also to be measurements for you, then the idea of including them as dimensions might be a good one

as far as packages are concerned, you don't have to insert the other tables as well, unless these new three columns have table relations with other tables in which you have entered new values. in that case you would not find them in the new environment and if you have enabled validate on the package fields, it might go wrong

    regards
