Check if MSsql user has permission to folder where backup is being save.

Thank you for the suggestion - I checked it, permission to folder is OK and the problem is still there.

I have exactly the same issue.  I cant backup, even with an everyone permission assigned to folder and running SO manager as administrator .  Did anyone ever solve this ? Running on a Workstation :  Win 8.1 enterprise and SQL express 2012.   Backup is prepared but when saved I get "backup failed for server.... "  message.   It screams of permissions issue but cant see how to fix !

    RMS version 2.0.2000 -   DB 2.06

Help needed...I am having the same problem in both Headquarters and the Stores using the same RMS Version.  Never had this before.  Cannot Backup or Restore.  Using Window 7 and SQL Server Express for the Stores and SQL Server 2012 for Headquarters.

Make sure you are performing the backup on the server machine.  Also, windows 8 locks the root c: ; windows;  and program files directories.  Even though you allow a everyone group, it is still locked because of ownership.  So Backup must be saved to folders within the user folders, i.e. my documents or public documents.

If that still doesn't work.   I suggest you install SQL management studio / express.  Backup from there, it will you a more verbos response.

try using my documents folder as backup destination if it accepted backup then its permission issue.

to solve this issue refer to default sql server backup folder.
