Sales order consuming and demand forecast set up on a daily base applying 'transactions - Dynamic period' as method

Hi everyone,

My customer wants to allocate demand forecast per day in a short term period.

Using the new planning optimization feature, there is only one remaining method to reduce demand forecasts : 'transactions - dynamic period'.

So how does it work in case demand forecasts are allocated per day ?

It seems sales order isn't taken into account to reduce demand forecast correctly as if the sales order is not included between to demand forecast dates ...

If you select Transactions - dynamic period, the forecast requirements are reduced by the actual order transactions that occur during the dynamic period. The dynamic period covers the current forecast dates and ends at the start of the next forecast. In this case, master planning creates planned orders to supply the forecasted demand (forecast requirements). However, when actual order transactions are placed, the forecast requirements are reduced. The actual transactions consume part of the forecasted requirements.

I have the same question (0)

    HI Eric,

Can you confirm that the plan you used is set with dynamic period method?

I ran a test in my demo system and got the expected result: forecast quantity was reduced for the day that also has SO line demand. Here is the scenario:

    2 daily forecasts:

    SO line demand:

    The result:

    pastedimage1620697146433v4.png

Forecast demand for 5/13 has decreased by 1 because of sales order to be shipped on the same date.

I have use regular master planning engine and not planning optimization.

Can you test what result you will get if you use regular master planning? If the result is the same (forecast is not reduced) then it is probably a bug or a limitation of planning optimization feature.

    Hi Oleksiy,

Many thanks for your detailled reply. It sounds good. I will double-check setup from my side, probably there is an issue 'between seat and keyboard'.

As you, I didn't use the planning optimization but, cause we know that 'dynamic period method' is the last one supported, I prefer apply it from now and test processes with this assumption.
