Built in Power BI Apps in BC

Hi Experts

We are currently playing around with the Built in BI Reports for Business Central, I have a few questions regarding the setup:

I have linked the Sales App to our Production Environment to Company A

If I now have more companies what are the next steps?

Do I create a workspace per company and install the apps on there? or is it at all possible to have one workspace with the app automatically linking to different companies?

Regards,
I have the same question (0)

We have to install the same app with different name and link it to different company.

    Hello,

You can either create separate Power BI workspaces for each company and install the Sales App individually, ensuring clear separation and control, or use a single workspace with a centralized setup that connects to multiple companies via dataflows or parameters, allowing consolidated reporting and cross-company analysis—your choice depends on whether you prioritize company-specific access or unified reporting.

As other experts have mentioned, switching to another company can solve this problem.
But if you want to view records from multiple companies at the same time, the standard Power BI app cannot do it, and you need to create a new Power BI report yourself. Then display the report in BC.
    For example,
Business Central 2022 wave 2 (BC21): Allow multiple Power BI charts (Multiple “Power BI Embedded Report Part” on the page)
Creating Power BI Reports for Displaying List Data in Dynamics 365 Business Central (Filter the Power BI report based on the selected record)

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
    ZHU

    Hi Tris,

If you're working with multiple companies in Business Central, the recommended approach is to:

➡️ Create a separate Power BI workspace for each company
➡️ Install the app separately and configure it to connect to the specific company via the “Switch company” option in the Power BI Business Central connector

Unfortunately, the built-in apps don’t support automatic switching between companies in a single workspace/report — each app instance is tied to one company at a time.

✅ Mark this as the verified answer if it helps.
