Hello

I’m looking to migrate a company from our current Sweden SaaS database to a new W1 SaaS database.

However, I haven’t been able to find any relevant Microsoft documentation on this process.

Can anyone confirm if this is feasible and provide guidance on the steps involved?

Yes, it’s feasible.

Use the Environment Transfer feature (Admin Center) or copy/transfer via sandbox > accept transfer > copy to production in the destination tenant.

Steps and key limits:

Steps:

1. Copy the source Production to a Sandbox (optional, safer).

2. In the source tenant’s Business Central Admin Center choose Environments > Transfer Environments and create a transfer request (specify destination Entra tenant ID).

3. In the destination tenant accept the incoming transfer (must be accepted within 8 hours).

4. Once transferred, if you used a Sandbox you can Copy Sandbox → Production in the destination tenant to make it a production environment.

> Important considerations

1. Destination tenant must have at least one paid BC license and available environment quota. Transfer will fail without quota.

2. Environment data, localization and region remain unchanged; you cannot change country/locale during transfer.

3. Users, AAD identities, Power Platform links, add-ins and personalizations are not moved — you must recreate or reconfigure them in the destination tenant.

4. Environments linked to Power Platform cannot be transferred until unlinked.

If you only need a single company moved (not whole environment), consider export/import via configuration packages or a data-migration approach instead of transferring the full environment.

Migrating a single company from a Sweden-localized BC SaaS environment to a new W1 SaaS tenant is feasible, but it requires a structured workaround since Microsoft does not support direct company export/import between SaaS tenants.

Here’s a clean path forward:

Use Configuration Packages (RapidStart Services)

Export master data, setup tables, and transactional data from the Sweden tenant using configuration packages.

In the W1 tenant, manually create the target company and import the configuration packages.

This method does not transfer extensions, permissions, or environment-level settings, those must be handled separately.

Rebuild the company shell manually in W1

Create a new company in the W1 tenant.

Apply base setup manually or via configuration packages.

Reassign user permissions and roles as needed.

Handle localization differences

Sweden localization may include VAT, regulatory, or reporting features do not present in W1.

Review dependencies on local functionality and adjust workflows or extensions accordingly.

Use APIs or third-party migration tools

For deeper automation, consider using BC APIs or tools like eOne SmartConnect, Jet Reports, or Cosmo Consult migration utilities.

These can help replicate data structures and relationships across tenants.

Confirm licensing and environment readiness

Ensure the W1 tenant is provisioned with the correct license tier and feature set.

I don't think there is any MS documentation for this process, nor do we have any tool to do that. You must use Configuration Packages or custom code to transfer data from one Company to another. Treat it as if you were creating a brand new BC instance from another ERP and executing the same steps.

Yes but not by a simple one-click “move company from Sweden SaaS → W1 SaaS.”

You can transfer whole environments between tenants, or recreate a W1 environment and migrate company data into it, but moving a single company between two live SaaS environments (and/or changing a country/localization) is not a straight Microsoft-supported one-step operation — it needs planning and usually either a data export/import approach or help from Microsoft/partner.
