Modified blank forms will not import (added small logo)

Posted on by 660

Today I have modified a few blank forms for the SOP module in GP dynamics 10.
The first time I modified, saevd then exported I was able to simple email the modified file to the user then install on that users workstation. The user requested a different image to be used so I re-modified the forms and updated with new images. Upon perfoming the same import proccess the error came up after I overwrote files "Unable to open customization dictionary"
The form opened up howeevr the picture waas not present at all.

Each time I logged in as SA, palced the modified dictioanry file in the C:\ then simpley imported the file. First time success secodn and third no luck. I did the first time with several users in GP as well so not sure what could be causing this.

If each workstation is using a local reports dictionary, then you will need to do the import I described at the specific workstation to modify the dictionary it is looking at.

Any workstation, it just needs to be looking at the same shared reports.dic file.

    Kind regards,

Leslie can I do this on a specific workstation or does this need to be on the server?

    Leslie,

I have been using my workstation logged in as SA to modify the forms. I then export a copy to my desktop and then move this file to the users specific computer and try to import.

What is the best means to doing this? Should I log into the SQL server (with GP) then modify on the server then perform the step you mentioned above (mapping to the file location from the server)?

    Thank you

    Mark

When the import window opens, select the dictionary containing the 'good' reports. Each modified item in that particular dictioary will show up on the left hand side. One-by-one you need to select the reports you want and then click on the Import button when you have finished.

This may save you some time rather than waiting for all of your users to release the file.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi,

This error message is displayed when there are users logged in GP using the shared Reports or Forms dictionary. This error can also occur in case of local Reports or Forms on a terminal server.

Refer to following blog article for further details
