Advanced Workflow approvals for Purchase Orders

Good Evening,

System - SAAS

I am looking to have advanced approval workflows in business central potentially based on a dimension. Example - Follow normal approval route, except when dimension is selected

Normal

Person A - 500 limit

Person B - Unlimited

Dimension CATERING selected

Person A - 15000 limit

Person B - Unlimited

Continia document Capture offers this as a solution for invoicing but not for purchase orders?

Are there any recommended add ins for purchase order approvals? That can handle more advanced workflows

TIA

I have the same question (0)

Hi, Sorry for not being able to give a specific plan. But for this kind of complicated approval process, I prefer Power Automate.

    just a simple example:

Also Josh is an expert in this area and has a lot of useful information in his Blog.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Thanks Zhu, the power automate approval flow is certainly something that looks interesting, but doesn't resolve my dynamic purchase approval limits issue :(

Ps Love your content on twitter :)

You should be able to do this in Business Central using the approval workflows. Create 2 PO Approvals workflows. These will be distinguished by the filter you put in the 'On Condition' for the 'Approval of a purchase document is requested.' event. This will be the 1st line in the workflow steps. In the event condition, add a filter for the dimension value = CATERING. In the other workflow add a filter for the dimension value = ''.

Hi, thanks for this, where would you put the differing approval limits?

    Thanks

On the same page as above by adding the filter on the amount field in the purchase header.

I'm trying to have Person A have 2 differing Approval limits depending on a dimension filter? And continue down the approval flow?

Struggling to see how this would be managed on the seperate flows as you would still have to either point to A workflow user group /approver or salesperson/purchaser and the still only selectr approval chain or direct approver etc.  You can't specify anywhere that they have a different approval limit?

Hi, I think what ew98000 mean is, you can add different filters in Event Conditions. Separate it when you initiate Workflow, not when you approve it.
