Chart of Accounts segments not displaying all characters

We have been working with a customer who has chosen a combination of alpha and numeric in their GL account segments.  An issue they are running into is that for the alpha segments, GP is cutting off some characters in the lookups and in account maintenance.  Is there a fix for this?  We tried using 'Horizontal Scroll Arrows' but this did not expand the field.  Please note below the 4th segment should read 'CHAR' but is getting cut off and shows as CHAI.

    When you are using ALPHA you need to use the expansion so that they fit.  Go back to your segment setup and then do expansion 4 for the Alpha fields and you will still need to use the horizontal scroll bars in order to see the whole account but now it will show the characters correctly.
