We have a situation where an employee left the company and was rehired at a later date. In the HR combined history their HR status is showing as Separated. The HR status on their employee card shows as Active. Using GP 10.

I have the same question (0)When you went through the process of marking the active box in the Employee maintenance window unfortunately this change alone does not update the HR Status field for that change within the Combined History window for the Position History in the top portion of the window.
Within the Combined History window in order for a new record to take the HR Status field this would have had to of been changed to 'Active' before you make a change to the Position field. Then as you make the change it asks if you want to save the changes to history and will then pull in the HR Status that is currently sitting in the field.
So for example, you would first activate them and change the Status to Active within the Human Resources button and then lastly change positions. Then as you save it will ask if you want to update history and all will be pushed to history due to the position change.
If you need to change the HR Status go directly into the Position History window by navigating to Cards | Human Resources | Employee | Position History and highlight the line you need to change and update the HR Status field and save.
