    Hi,
Business Central does not support creating a Sales Order from a Production Order directly. The standard flow is the opposite: create a Production Order from a Sales Order or link them via planning.
If your requirement is the reverse (Sales Order from Production Order), it needs customization or Power Automate because it’s not standard.

Typically, it works the other way around, a sales order triggers the creation of a production order. This makes sense logically: once you have a sales order, you’re planning to sell something, so the system creates a production order to produce the item you’re selling and meet the demand on the sales order.

In Business Central , Production orders are created from Sales order . based on below settings in item card

We create Production Order based on Sales Order

    Proposed solution
To create Sales Order from Production Order will attract customization . See, if you can enhance further to what i have drafted below

    1) Create Codeunit Event whenever Production order is created , Sales Order to be created with same set of lines
    2) You can store Production order number in Sales Order in some custom field for reference
    3) You should ensure output of item generated should be applied with Sales shipment , invoice
    4) This will ensure correct costing and inventory valuation

if you feel this helped , please verify the answer

    Regards

In Business Central, there is no direct out-of-the-box function to create a sales order from a production order. The standard process works the other way around — you usually start with a sales order, which creates demand, and then you create or refresh a production order to fulfill that demand.

If your business process requires generating a sales order after the production order is created (for example, make-to-stock production where sales orders are created later), you can handle this manually by creating a new sales order and selecting the produced item from inventory once the production order is finished.

For automation, you have two main options:

    > Customization with AL code – You can build a small customization or extension that reads the production order output (finished items) and automatically creates a sales order line with that quantity.

    > Power Automate / API Integration – Use Business Central APIs to trigger sales order creation when a production order status is changed to Finished.

    Thanks

    Rishabh
