In Business Central, there is no direct out-of-the-box function to create a sales order from a production order. The standard process works the other way around — you usually start with a sales order, which creates demand, and then you create or refresh a production order to fulfill that demand.
If your business process requires generating a sales order after the production order is created (for example, make-to-stock production where sales orders are created later), you can handle this manually by creating a new sales order and selecting the produced item from inventory once the production order is finished.
For automation, you have two main options:
> Customization with AL code – You can build a small customization or extension that reads the production order output (finished items) and automatically creates a sales order line with that quantity.
> Power Automate / API Integration – Use Business Central APIs to trigger sales order creation when a production order status is changed to Finished.
