Daily Job Queue Not Running on the Next Day

I have a recurring job scheduled to run daily at 11 PM (23:00). On 22/07/2025 it started on time but the process took more than an hour and ended after midnight. Because of this, the scheduler skipped the job on 23/07/2025 and automatically scheduled the next run for 24/07/2025.

 

I need this job to run every day at 11 PM, even if the previous run overlaps into the next day. Can someone explain why the scheduler skips a day and what settings I should use to ensure it always triggers at the correct time?

    Hello,
     
    The scheduler skips the next run because Business Central’s Job Queue does not start a new instance while the previous one is still running, enforcing a “no overlap” rule. When your job runs past midnight, the system considers the next scheduled time already occupied and moves to the following day.
     
    To ensure it runs daily at 11 PM regardless of overlap, enable Allow Concurrent Execution (if available in your version) or create separate job queue entries for overlapping runs; alternatively, use different categories or external scheduling tools like Task Scheduler or PowerShell for strict timing.
