Automatically Generated Quote Template

I am having trouble creating the new automatically generated quote template for Dynamics CRM 2016 Online.  I have already created the template, but I am unable to get the Product ID and Product Description to display.  These are important for my business, but they do not seem to be listed in the Quote entity.  Could someone please help with this?

    Hi Alexander,

There is no direct relationship between the Quote and the Product entities. There is a Quote Product entity that sits between them.

So in theory you could create a Word Template against the Quote Product entity making sure to include the relationship to the Quote entity and the relationship to the Product entity and you could then reach all of the fields you need.

Not sure if this would suit your purpose as it wouldn't work if you had more than one product per quote and you'd need to open the Quote Product record to run the template. Hopefully it helps though.

Thanks for your help, however this would not work for us because we often quote multiple products.  Is there any other way I can make this work?  Maybe through programming?

    Hi Alexander,

Well maybe you could create these fields on the Quote Product entity, then have a workflow that populates these fields from the related Product when a new Quote Product record is created. Then you could access these new fields from the Quote?

I haven't tested this, just thinking out loud!

    Regards,

    Sean

    Hello Alexander,

I am afraid that this is not possible within the standard solution. I hope you do not mind but there would be a third party tool which aims to help you with your issue. With the dox42 MS CRM extension you can completely customize your all your documents while using Word/Excel/PowerPoint as template basic. You can also add other datasources (SharePoint, SQL, SAP,...) and the save it again in various formats.

Would be happy if this helps you. Here a link to the extension: www.dox42.com/.../dox42DynamicsCRM

Moreover a webinar which shows how dox42 enables your document creation: www.youtube.com/watch

There is also the possibilty for a demo to show it in more detail. If you would like to see it for free please contact us via: http://www.dox42.com/Contact

But I would be totally happy if somebody has an other solution for you. But its always good to have a plan B :)
