Anchor Picking for Production RM Picks

Hello!

I was looking for information about using Anchoring and noted that the current functionality applies only to Sales Orders and controls by Shipment or Load. Is there any plan to make this function usable for Transfer Orders, RM Picking, etc?

Scenario:

  • We run a production facility where we compound various raw materials to make our product,
  • The warehouse is adjacent to the production area, but there are different PPE requirements and an airlock in between,
  • We set up D365 to have our production area consume from a single location, and as necessary we deliver the materials to this area where the team compounding team creates picking lists to track and manage consumption,
  • We need to stage all the materials for each Production Order prior to delivery to the airlock,
  • For traceability purposes and control of raw materials our Quality team requires items to be license plated at the Handling Unit,
    • Every jerrycan, box, or drum needs it's own LP and this LP needs to be traceable all the way through our batching process.

When the Warehouse picks RM for the compounding team, a 2 stage work is generated:

  1. Pick the RM and deliver to "STAGE",
    1.  in order to make sure the stock can be physically located later we "override location" on the handheld to a physical rack.
  2. Take the RM from the Staging location and put them into the consumption location

The pain point here, is that since we are maintaining the separated LPs the warehouse users need to "override" multiple times. If the staged work is only 4x200kg drums it's not a huge deal, but if the work is 100x8kg jerricans the warehouse cries, and also makes mistakes on the overrides.

I was hoping the "Anchoring" feature could be used to change the "STAGE" location to a single rack location the first time a work for a particular Production Order is overridden. If anyone has experience setting this up or customizing this in order to work in this manner it would be great to hear about.
