Completed orders not automatically moving to history

Posted on by 75

We upgraded to Dynamics GP 2010 (SP1) about 6 months ago and have noticed that increasingly more and more orders are not transferring to history, upon completion. As a result we have to manually transfer the orders to history using the Reconcile-Remove Sales Documents. There is nothing that we are doing different from before SP1. Any thoughts?

I also have customers with lots of orders that create BOs and many with multiple BO cycles.  None fail to move to history UNLESS someone cancels part of the order.  The Transfer process (posting for invoices) moves the document to history.  If someone edits an order and reduces a quantity on order to 0 or enters a cancelled quantity, there is no process short of the Reconcile-Remove that will move them to history.

We do a lot of the same kind of activity (1 order with 8 lines might produce 4 backorders, 4 new orders and 5 invoices = 14 documents).  We don't have any problems (short of the one I asked specifically about, cancelled quantities as the last activity for an order).  How are the orders entered - manually or intgration?  Do you have customizations running?  If you have SQL capability and if you query the lines of the "hanging" order (table SOP10200) what values do you see in QTYREMAI?  If QTYREMAI is not zero, the line is not "complete"?

Your issue has the capability to generate a lot of questions.

The problem I have seems specific to orders that have gone to backorder, then back to order and subsequent invoice.

    Thanks Tim and Leslie

I will check if there are cancelled qty's in the orders that do not move to history

Great question Tim, I would have asked too.

I haven't had any issues regarding SOP documents transferring to History in GP 2010.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Are the Orders that won't transfer really "completed" by full transfer to Invoice?  If you check the orders prior to moving them to History, are there cancelled quantities?  If cancelling quantities are the last thing to occur, then Reconcile-Remove is your only choice.

You may have aready checked this (but I have to ask).
