Manage Reserve Items through different warehouses

Hello,

Supplier may deliver Items on warehouse 1 or warehouse 2.

Items are sold from warehouse 1 or warehouse  2. Usually werehouse 2.

Werehouse 2 usually contains only the items that will be shipped to the client within 48 h.

If the supplier delivers the items in warehouse 1 but it is sold from warehouse 2 a trasfer order sould be created.

I'm not using stock keeping unit

With that in mind I want to setup reserve items and Order Planning (5522) but I found some difficulties in managing the warehouses.

MY QUESTIONS ARE:

1) How can I reserve items in wherehouse 1 if my sales line is on warehouse 2?

2) In the Order Planning (5522) page how can I prevent it to purchase quantity if transfer is possible?

    Yes, it is a 1 - 1 relationship

You cannot setup something like LOCATION A is replenished by transfer from LOCATION B, and by transfer from LOCATION C if not available on B

Looks like any SKUs work with 1 Replenishment (buy or trasfer from specific location). But I want it to try to trasfer from any location and if not aviable buy.

Can I do so with SKUs?

    Hello

regarding your first question, if you sales order is supposed to be shipped from a specific location, and item is on another location, then you cannot reserve. You need to transfer first and then reserve on the location related the shipment.

Regarding question 2, I would like to come back to your original information: you are not using SKU, but I would recommend to use it as it will help you to manage what you would need to achieve here.

    Kidn regards

    Jerome

    Ok. Thanks

    Let's take this exemple:

    • I have sales line on werehouse 2
    • I have purchase line on werehouse 1 (not yet recived)
    • I have Stockkeeping Units (SKUs) setup.

    1. Can order planning create trasfer order from werehouse 1 to  werehouse 2 and with the proper check reserve the quantity?
    2. Can Stockkeeping Units manage more than 1 trasfer replenishing? I mean firstly try to trasfer from werehouse 1 if no oper purchase order or stock try werehouse N...
    3. Are Stockkeeping Units included in the standard licence or is the advanced needed?
    4. How difficult is to make the reserve funcion work without location? Is there anyone who did it?

RE: Manage Reserve Items through different warehouses

    Good evening John,

Thank you for submitting your request.

The challenge here is that you cannot reserve across Locations. Microsoft Dynamics NAV Reservations are going to be within a given Location. Rather than completing a Transfer Order, you could possibly post a direct Item Reclassification Journal to move the inventory from one Location to a second Location.

To manage multiple Location Replenishment, you must implement Stockkeeping Units (SKUs).  There is the option for Transfer Replenishment, but only when using SKUs may a designation of Replenishment System of Transfer be established with a specific Location for the Transfer From Location for replenishing.

Thank you again for submitting your request.
