Adding Internet Facing deployment to existing CRM 2013 server setup

Hi All

In my organisation we currently have a two-server deployment front and backend CRM 2013 servers with a separate SQL Server running 2008 R2. We are looking to expand our CRM to our marketing department but for this we need to change our configuration for CRM to be Internet Facing Deployment (IFD).

Currently neither of these servers are publically facing and we want to keep it that way. My question is can the IFD role be added to a new CRM server as we would like to use a new server and place this in our DMZ or do we need to install IFD on an existing server and then make this publically available?

Thanks

Ranj

PowerObjects has an article that is a good place to start:

    crmbook.powerobjects.com/.../multiple-server-deployment-2

External traffic needs to get to both your CRM server and your AD FS server, either through some firewall rules and/or proxy servers.

This other forum thread has a good answer to demonstrate the traffic flow:

IFD applies to all servers in a CRM deployment - it's not a separate role. What you can do is configure your DNS so that requests from the internet are only directed to certain front-end servers

Either way it will work for you. Refer below links.
