Master data management - synchronization of item type & Gen. Prod. Posting Group

When adding new items in the source company, the item type and the Gen. Prod. Posting Group are not being synchronized to the target company. in the master data management setup, both fields are enabled, the validation is turned off, and overwrite local changes is "true".

in the integration synchronization jobs it can be seen that the synchronization for the item table is running without errors, but in the "unchanged" column there are some records "unchanged".
Can someone explain why this can happen and what the unchanged column actually means?

Which D365 product is it about? Business Central?

Moved from the Dynamics 365 General forum to the Business Central forum. The screenshot and the label "Gen. Prod. Posting Group" indicates the question is about Business Central. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi, Unchanged: Specifies the number of records that were not changed in the destination database table
Have you tried syncing the Modified Records manually? If that doesn't fix the issue, it may be overwritten by validation code for other fields or tables.

Hope this can give you some hints.
    Thanks.

    Hi

You're right to expect those fields to sync if they’re enabled in the MDM Setup. Let’s break down what’s likely happening:

    1. What “Unchanged” Means

    • The “Unchanged” column in the Integration Synchronization Jobs page shows records that were already coupled and did not change in the source company since the last sync
    • These records are skipped during synchronization because there’s nothing new to update
    • Even if “Overwrite Local Changes” is set to true, BC won’t overwrite unless the source record has changed

    2. Why Item Type & Gen. Prod. Posting Group May Not Sync

    • If the item record was created before those fields were enabled for sync, they may not be included in the sync payload
    • Try running a Full Synchronization or manually trigger Synchronize Modified Records after updating the source item
    • Also confirm that the fields are enabled in the Synchronization Tables > Fields page not just listed

    3. Suggested Fixes

    • Go to Master Data Management Setup > Synchronization Tables > Item Table > Fields
    • Confirm Item Type and Gen. Prod. Posting Group are enabled
    • In the source company, modify the item record (e.g., toggle a field or re-save) to trigger a sync
    • Run Synchronize Modified Records or Restart the job queue for the Item table
    • If needed, use Match-Based Coupling to re-align records and force a sync

Here’s a link showing how to manage field-level sync settings:
