Reservation worksheet and lot number.

Hi all,

Scenario:
- I handle items with lot tracking
- I want to make resarvation (towards item ledger entries or already existing purchase or production orders) for the items in the sales order
- If i don't have any inventory or existing orders, i create production orders from the planning function of the sales order (and that is ok)
- i want a page where i see all the avaible inventory to which i can create the resarvation for the demand without opening every single sales order.

For the last point i found the "Reservation worksheet" which is pretty closely what i need. The problem is that this page doesn't handle lot no. Infact even if i've set the lot number in the sales line, the "available qty to reserve" doesn't consider the lot requested by the sales line. In addition to this, if i create a reservation from this page for an item hanlded by lot, the reservation created has the lot column empty and if i run the action "Get demand" multiple times it seems that in the "available qty to reserve" there are quantities already reserved (from the procedure "make reservation" of the same page!!!!). Is this a bug? Do you know if Microsoft will implement lot handling in this page? Are there other alternatives to achieve what i'm looking for?
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

    Current Limitation

The Reservation Worksheet in Business Central does not currently support lot number handling directly. This means that even if you set the lot number in the sales line, the "available qty to reserve" does not consider the lot requested by the sales line. Additionally, reservations created from this page for items handled by lot numbers will have the lot column empty.

    Potential Workarounds
    1. Manual Reservation:
      • You can manually reserve items with lot numbers directly from the sales order or other relevant documents. This ensures that the lot numbers are correctly assigned.
      • Navigate to the sales order, select the line, and use the Reserve action to open the Reservation page. Here, you can specify the lot numbers manually.
    2. Item Tracking Lines:
      • Use the Item Tracking Lines page to assign lot numbers during the reservation process. This page allows you to specify the lot numbers for both inbound and outbound transactions.
    3. Custom Development:
      • If the standard functionality does not meet your needs, consider custom development. A developer can create a custom page or modify the existing Reservation Worksheet to include lot number handling.

    Hi,

I know many organizations that rely heavily on lot numbers, but Business Central doesn't provide an easy way to extract lot numbers for day-to-day use. However, I would recommend checking AppSource to see if there are any apps available that can help meet your requirements.

    Thanks
    Ramesh
