I am trying to set up a flow so when a cell is updated to a specific value, an email will be sent to notify team members.  I have been working with copilot to set this up as its my first flow, and it is suggesting i use "When a row is added, modified or deleted" as my trigger.  When I search for this trigger - I get the dataverse version but not the excel (business online) version that i need.  If anyone has any thought on this it would be super helpful.
I have the same question (0)

The reason you can't find that specific trigger for Excel is actually a technical limitation: Excel Online does not have a "When a row is added, modified or deleted" trigger.

Unlike Dataverse or SharePoint, Excel doesn't "watch" individual cells for changes in real-time. To build this, you have to use a different strategy.

Option 1: The "Scheduled" Check (Most Common)

Instead of waiting for a change, you set the flow to run every hour (or day) to look for rows that meet your criteria.

    1. Trigger: "Recurrence" (Set to every 1 hour, for example).
    2. Action: "List rows present in a table" (Excel Online).
    3. Action: "Filter Array." Use this to find only rows where your "Status" column equals "Specific Value."
    4. Condition: If the filtered list is not empty, use "Send an email (V2)."

Option 2: Use SharePoint instead of Excel (Recommended)

If your project allows it, move your data from Excel to a SharePoint List.

Thank you for this feedback.  I was unaware that this trigger does not exist for excel. Since I posted this I have been looking at work-a-rounds.  Currently I was setting up a table in power apps (never messed with that before) and was going to use the dataverse trigger for when a row is added, modified....

Is this similar to your option 2 -- using sharepoint? I am assuming you are suggesting to set up a table in sharepoint that I can create the flow from?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, your Dataverse approach is on the right track; SharePoint is just another (often simpler) option depending on the complexity of your use case.

    Hello @SM-28011339-0

You’re already doing the right thing with Microsoft Learn. To progress faster, shift to hands-on, end-to-end scenarios.

    What works best:

    • Build real solutions (Power Apps + Dataverse + Power Automate + Copilot Studio) instead of isolated features.

    • Use the Power Platform Developer Plan for a free sandbox to experiment safely.

    • For Copilot Studio, focus on copilots that call Power Automate flows, read/write Dataverse, and handle real business processes.

    • Reverse-engineer sample apps and flows to understand design patterns.

    • Participate in community challenges and forums solving others’ problems accelerates learning

      Official Microsoft resources:

    • Power Platform Developer Plan (sandbox)

    • Copilot Studio documentation & tutorials

    • Power Apps real-world guidance & samples

    • Power Automate use cases & patterns

Building and explaining one complete, real-world solution will boost confidence faster than completing more modules.

Also consider enrolling in the Power Up Program — it’s a structured, project-based learning path where you build real Power Platform solutions with guidance and community support. It complements Microsoft Learn well if you want more practical, challenge-oriented experience.
