All day event has different begin and end date in Activity View but not on Form

Has anybody noticed (and hopefully solved) that an all day event in CRM usually spans two days? In the form the begin and end date are the same day, but in the grid they are two dates...

Thanks

Aad

I've reproduced the same phenomenon in my CRM Online environment. I hadn't noticed this before and, I have to admit, it doesn't really bother me. On the form, the time is hidden so I can see the appointment is an all day appointment that starts on 10/04/2012 and ends on 10/04/2012. In an appointments view, I can see that it starts on 10/04/2012 00:00 and ends on 11/04/2012 00:00.

To me, this doesn't mean that the appointment spans two days. It spans one day and one minute.

If you classify this as a bug, you could raise a support case with Microsoft to have it resolved. But what's the business impact of the phenomenon for your users?

You can also experience this if the user is set in a timezone different from the system set timezone. In that case  10/04/2012 00:00 can turn into 09/04/2012 23:00 if you are 1 hour in front.

    Hi both,

I can understand users get confused when they check for someone's availability. If someone's supposed to be back on 10 April after an all day event and the end date says 11 April, they may well assume they are not available on 11 April. Which is exactly the reason one of my customers brought up this concern.

With regard to the difference in time zone, good point but not applicable here. The fact that CRM adds 24 hours to the start time of an all day event  to make it into an all day event will always make it run longer than one day, regardless of the time difference. At best it will run from 00:00 to 00:00 but I have done testing where it started at 21:00 (because that was the time I created the appointment) until 21:00 the following day.
