Jscript/Javascript questions

Hey guys I am new to CRM here. I currently work in a CRM 2013 enviorment. I have questions about jscript vs javascript. For instance our phone number fields and email fields use jscript to restrict their formats. More specificly the jscript forces phone number fields to be a phone number format. And our email fields to be an email format. Is there a way to use java script instead of jscript for this task? In addition to this is the jscript used for crm Jscript, or Jscript.net? I find a little information on jscript.net but almost nothing on plain old jscript. Accept for some books on amazon from the late 90s. thanks!

JScript is JavaScript in this era.  Unless you are explicitly calling ActiveX (which you shouldn't be), just treat all references of JScript as JavaScript when developing for Dynamics CRM.  If you really want to be modern, you should focus on JQuery, as it's explicitly supported by Dynamics CRM 2013 and newer.

for form validation you use Javascript.

some people call Javascript, jscript but they are the same thing.

I would start learning Javascript for CRM 2013 from the beginning, this posts will help

I have done some jquery before and I have had to add the libraries to visual studios so I could call the functions. Is there a spot in CRM 2013 where I would put these libraries so I could call these functions? I know under the events tab is where I can add what libraries are avilable for that specific form so I can then call the functions but I do not know where this Library is and or how I can scroll through it. I will look through these resources. Thanks guys!

JS libraries are stored in CRM as "web resource" records (amongst other things that use web resources as their method of storage). So you create a web resource record, upload your .js file to it (or write it using the inline editor for very simple JScripts) and save it.

A web resource could store a library with loads of functions, or a single function; be very general purpose or specific to a single entity.

Then on a form, you select the web resources you want to load. These are then the libraries from which you can select functions to use for events such as onLoad or onChange.

Jquery can be stored as web resources the same as JavaScript files.

Add them to the entity library and then you can reference them in your JavaScript.
