Sales invoice Posting date and shipment posting date

Sales invoice Posting date and shipment posting date - which one controls the entry date for the resulting General Ledger Transaction?

Results seem inconsistent within one company in Business Central.

Sometimes the Sales Invoice posting date is used, and sometimes it is the Shipment date on the Sales Invoice.

What would cause this timing difference?

I have the same question (0)

Hi, as far as I know, the date of General Ledger Entries is taken from the Posting Date on the general group of Sales Invoice. Shipment date will not be taken as a priority.

    For example,

Is there any customization included in this environment?

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Thank you Zhu Yun for your reply and answer.  Much appreciated!  Your conclusion is the same as mine.  However - the actual results in the customers environment is inconsistent.  Sometimes it is doing this, and other times it take the shipment date and posts to the General Ledger - using the Shipment dates as the Posting date.   Yes - there is customization in this environment, and I am waiting for the developer to respond with their input as well.

The shipment itself doesn't generate General Ledger Entries, but only Item Ledger Entries and Value Entries.

So if G/L entries are created, I assume the Automatic Cost posting is turned on, so check "Inventory Setup" - maybe You have Automatic Cost Adjustment set to something, or maybe in General Ledger Setup the Allow posting from date prevents cost to be posted on the Order Posting date?

sorry - You are talking about the Sales Invoice not the Sales Shipment.

And shipment alone can be done only from Sales Order, not Sales Invoice.

Do all G/L entries are posted on the Shipment date (assuming the Posting Date is different) ? or only the Item value / Inventory account transactions have the wrong date?
