There are several users at a client who are getting the following error when trying to access BC: 'You must specify a country or region.'

I have attached the screenshot of what they aret rying to access.

I have narrowed it down to that the country/ region isn't populated on the company information page or that the 'Language' and/ or 'Region' isn't populated on the user settings page for the users.

Is this caused by them not having been setup correctly or could they update to BC 27.0 on 23/02/2026 caused this issue?

Hi,

In your screenshot there are multiple tabs and pages. Exactly what your user are trying to access? Also can you share call stack and screenshot of error itself?

Hey @NL-28100713-0,

You can test it out by adding the Country/Region code in the Company Information, but I don't think so standard gives any such error while accessing business central. You or any other user might be doing some process that checks and throws error if the Country/Region code is not present in the particular master.

Please provide the screenshot of the error and let us know what process you guys are trying to run? Is it a standard process or a custom one? Do you have any customizations in the business central?

Your screenshot seems to be incorrect.

Hello,

This is not a version 27.0 bug but a setup issue: the error “You must specify a country or region” is triggered when Country/Region Code is blank in Company Information, and newer validations simply expose this missing mandatory setup when users access functionality that depends on regional or VAT logic; user Language or Region settings normally don’t cause this specific error, so the fix is to populate the Country/Region Code on the Company Information page (and verify related VAT setup), after which users should be able to access BC without the error.

It was happening when the users came in first thing in the morning and tried to use BC.
