how to send automatic approval request when creating new item

Hi all

I have the following request from the customer:

They dont want an item to be used without being approved first.

I have setup the item workflow approval, but when I create an item, it does not trigger automatically the approval request and I am able to use that item on PO or SO.

Could you please help me if I am missing something?

    There is no out of the box functionality to accomplish this. So you will have to trigger the approval manually when you feel that you have entered enough information in the item. There is no way the system can now when you are ready with the item and it is ready for approval. So it is a manual process.

    Hi, We have done similar customization, when a new item is created, it will be automatically blocked. Then send for approval, and Blocked will be automatically removed after the approval is completed.
