    I have the same issue for emails sent from D365. The default is segoe 9pt and normal users arent able to change the font size. Why would Microsoft have 9pt as a text default? So far I can't  find any solutions on community forums

    Did anyone find out how to grant permission to users to change the font in their email body?

    The user settings for the rich text editor are stored in the  "Custom Control Extended Setting (msdyn_customcontrolextendedsettingses)" entity. You need write privileges to this entity in order to save the default font settings.

    This entity also controls timeline settings:

    {
        "msdyn_timelineWall_isAutoExpanded": false,
        "msdyn_timelineWall_isSortOrderNewerToOlder": true,
        "msdyn_rte_userpersonalizationsettings": "{\"userPersonalizationFont\":{\"fontName\":{\"name\":\"Comic Sans MS\",\"family\":\"'Comic Sans MS'\"},\"fontSize\":{\"size\":\"12\",\"sizeWithUnit\":\"12pt\"}}}",
        "msdyn_timelineWall_isFilterPaneOpen": false,
        "msdyn_timelineWall_searchTermApplied": null,
        "msdyn_timeline_displaylayoutoption": null,
        "msdyn_timelineWall_bookmarks": null,
        "msdyn_timelineWall_userFilters": null,
    }

    We've just come across this issue too, and I found this post which has helped resolve things. As per the post by Alexander T:
    "The user settings for the rich text editor are stored in the  "Custom Control Extended Setting (msdyn_customcontrolextendedsettingses)" entity"

    The user needs permissions to change the setting, this can be done via security role, and is located in the "Custom entities" Tab - user will need create, read and write permissions (only needed for their own records).

    I noticed this permission is given within the OOB security role "Basic User", but our organisation isn't using that role - so I've applied to the setting to the general role we apply to all users

    Hope that helps!

    At a different level, if you are using the Rich Text Editor, there is a config settings file which can be modified to set the font, size etc globally - RTEGlobalConfiguration.json
