Manufacturing Date is always wrong?

Hi All

Apologies if this isn't the right forum, doesn't seem to be one that's Operations focussed

I'm new to D365

we're using Manufacturing Date to drive some other dates, i.e. Shelf advice date = Manufacturing Date + 7.

But what we've found is that Manufacturing Date is demand driven, not historical fact

i.e. if the system thinks we need to make a product on June 1 but (due to finite capacity or other reasons) we actually make it in July, the Manufacturing Date is June 1

So to get the right behaviour we'd need to go in and over write the manufacturing date. Or leave the manufacturing date and update the Shelf advice date

Surely that can't be the best way?

Has anyone got a good solution for this?

Thanks

John

    John,

When are you creating the batch number for your production order?  If you're creating the batch number at production order creation then the manufacture date will use that date.  In your case, unless you have to create the batch early, it'd be best to create the batch number at time of RAF which will then put in the manufacturing date as the RAF date.
