Hi - is it possible to edit a Procurement Category on a Purchase Order line?  The only option seems to be to delete the line - is there another way? Thanks

I have the same question (1)

As I know it is not possible to edit this. It will allway be ths current assigned procurment category inserted when you add the item to the line. The item has to be in the appropriate procuremenmt category.

Thank you Andreas, this is how it seems.  I don't suppose anybody can think of why you wouldn't be able to edit the Procurement Category even while a PO is in draft state - i.e. it doesn't seem like a useful 'feature' and seems to be causing our users some dissatisfaction.

I can tell you why procurement and also sales category and others can't be changed so easy. A immense number of features inside Dynamics in based on categories, most of all at procurement category.

    E.G: Procurement policies as for

    - interneal purchase requisitions

    - catalog management, incl. Vendor catalog import

    - policies for vendor invoice matching

    - policies for external Requst for quotations

Furthermore categories are used for handling

    - vendor management, supplier rating

    - assign product attributes

    - ...

So categories (procurement, sales, retail, ....) at product level are used to group products with similar properties and same business processes to provide specific features and processes to these group of items. So it's important to understand and to use categoeries because much business processes are based on this.

just started testing this process out today for the first time, but it would seem logical that we should be able to edit down from a parent to a child if we haven't made that choice in the beginning (or if there's a new option within that subset).  is that possible?
