Notes and Activities on quotes

Hello,

We use the Quote revision as our business process to track version changes. However, this cannot carry across any activities and notes to the newly revised quote. Is it possible to do?

For instance:

When a quote is in draft status, we can add notes and activities to it.

However, after it is activated, we can no longer write to it.

When we "revise" the quote, it creates another quote with a new revision number, but same quote ID.

This works great because it allows us to track version changes. However, the notes and activities do NOT carry across to revised quotes.

Is there a way to make this possible?

 Thanks

    Hi Derell,

That is the default behaviour, if you however want to copy the notes over to the new revised quote, you will need to write a plugin that will copy the notes from the parent quote when a new revision is created.

But for the activities and history, activities can only be associated to a single parent through the regarding, and hence you will not be able to take over to the revised quote.

For displaying the activities/history, a custom page design is an option that lists them out

We have worked on similar request before and if you would like us to help you with developing this custom solution, you can contact us directly.

    Hi Sam,

That sounds promising. Can we get in touch to talk about the scope and cost?

Just as an aside, even when a quote is activated you can still add notes via the notes tab. Also, if the quotes are being 'contained' within an opportunity, you can view all activity, even those activities on the quotes at the opportunity level.

Notes won't roll up but you could set a business rule to only put notes at the opportunity level or not to use notes and use activities instead.
