How can i view my power bi reports in Microsoft Dynamics 365 online?

Posted on by 343

Hi,

I have made some reports in power bi for dynamics 365 online by getting all the data from dynamic 365 online. Now i want to view my power bi report from dynamic 365 online, how can i view it? I have also made a dashboard in power bi for dynamics 365 online which i am able to view in dynamics 365 online dashboard but i wonder how can i get my all reports from power bi to dynamics 365. Any help or suggestion would be highly appreciable.

Thanks.

    Good Day Waleed

I was struggling to get the Power BI report to display on the CRM Dashboard. But I found the below article and it explains the “Pin Live Page” to make Power BI report visible on dashboard.

The below article shows you how to link an existing Power BI report to a dashboard, I tried this but unfortunately this did not render when you view the D365 Dashboard on my side maybe you might have better luck. www.tutorialgateway.org/.../

I am also frustrated that after enabling PowerBI in Dynamics, I can only choose dashboard tiles and not any content from reports.  Have you found a way around that?  You mentioned adding a link to a PowerBI report in a Dynamics dashboard, but I haven't had success with that.  Can you please send me more detailed steps to do so?  Thank you!

    Hi @drew,

I know how I can embed PowerBI reports in dynamics 365 dashboard, I already have done this. But i was asking for any option by which i can embed or add the powerbi report in the reports section of dynamics 365 so that it will be as a separate report just like all the other reports in dynamics 365. And somehow i managed to do this, i don't know if it is the correct apporach or not as i am new to powerbi and dynamics. I just got the link of powerbi report and in dynamics 365 added a new report and selected the option of link to a webpage from the options and pasted there the link of my powerbi report. And now whenever i click on that report it opens powerbi report for me.

If you have any suggestions or anything that i have done wring please correct me, i would be very thankful to you.

    Thanks

    Hi Waleedbinafzal,

First, you need to enable Power BI visualizations for your organization in Settings > Administration > System Settings > Reporting tab > Allow Power BI visualization embedding.

In order to embed Power BI tiles on your personal dashboard, follow the steps below.

    1. Go to Dashboards in Sales, Service, or Marketing.

    2. Select an existing personal dashboard or select New to create one.

    3. On the dashboard, select an area where you want the tile to appear, and then select Power BI Tile on the toolbar.

    4. In the Add Power BI Dashboard dialog, select the workspace and then select the Power BI tile that you want to display on your dashboard. Select Enable for mobile if you want to make the tile available for Dynamics 365 for tablets and Dynamics 365 for phones.

Select another area of the dashboard and repeat this step to add another Power BI tile, or other components, such as a chart or list, to your dashboard.

    5. Select Save to save your dashboard.

    For more details, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/basics/add-edit-power-bi-visualizations-dashboard

    Hope this helps.

Do you have Power BI Professional?

I just verified that I am a member of the Marketing Team Office 365 Group and I then logged in as another member of the Office 365 Group in Power BI and added a dashboard under that user into the Marketing Team Power BI space and went back into Dynamics 365 and was able to add this to my dashboard.

As long as I have permissions to view, whether I created or not, it looks like I have ability to add.

    Screen shot below:

    Hope this helps.

    Hi @drew,

By this way i can only add my dashboards that i have made in power bi, it will not allow me to add the reports that i have made in power bi.
