Exchange Rate Service

I created additional currencies - no problem.

I created an exchange rate service - floatrate.com. I can see the exchange rates for today, but I need it way back from 2000/01/01. How do I get the historical rates in as well?

If I now want to post a journal with a historical transaction in another exchange rate, I get this error:

Validation Results

There is no Currency Exchange Rate within the filter. Filters: Currency Code: USD, Starting Date: ''..07/15/20

I have the same question (0)

Exchange rate service only offers to input the daily currency exchange rates.
For historical exchange rates either a customization is needed, or as that is a one time job, You can create the needed info in Excel, and just copy/paste it in the currency exchange list, or import through configuration package.

If You will not be doing any re-calculation for the previous years, or have no open invoices/entries, You can just set an exchange rate with starting date 01.01.2000 and system will not give You errors. You need the rates to be correct for the time You started using the system (so starting form when opening balances were imported, or when first transactions were posted).

I think KasparsSemjonovs is right here, for the old dates exchange rate we dont any kind of date filter while fetching the records, for that you can find the old exchange rate list and import directly into your BC table.

Thank you. I was hoping for an easier way, but a good old copy and paste did the trick.

This is an old thread I saw it while searching for a similar problem. But to provide more context perhaps for other users in the future - some exchange rate services such as Float Rates do not provide historical rates, but others do.

For example, the Bank of Canada has a free xml service that can be used if CAD is your local currency and it has historical rates. So to get historical rates, its possible, but the source of your service needs to provide historical rates.
