I am getting this message again 1st thing this morning and I cleared the quarter’s again just to verify that something had not messed up since yesterday. Any suggestions? I really need to post depreciation for Qtr 1 today if at all possible

Check the current fiscal year for the Fixed Asset module, Go to Tools > Setup > Fixed Assets > Book. See below, 2017 is the current fiscal period which means that 2016 was closed in the fixed asset module.
In previous version of Dynamics GP, you don't need to close the year in order to change the current fiscal year as you can manually manipulate this field. In GP 2013 it has become locked and changing it requires running the End Year Closing routine for the Fixed Assets module.
