MO Due Date Calculation

(0) ShareShare

We are currently running into a problem in calculating the due date for our Manufacturing Orders.  We typically have our items set to a Mfg Fixed Lead Time of 3 days.  Prior to the current service pack this has ensured that the Due Date for our products was always three days after our Start Date.  We're using a Backward Infinite scheduling method.

However since we upgraded to service pack 2 this calculation doesn't seem to be happening consistently.  Now our MO's instead of printing with that default fixed lead time subtracting 3 days off the end date, they're printing off with the start date and end date being the same.

Does anyone know if the variables used to calculate this have changed?  We've been trying to figure this out for awhile now.

    Stewart,

When an MO is scheduled the Mfg Fixed Lead Time is not actually used.  It is scheduled using the setup, cycle, queue, and move times for each ROUTING step.  Something must have changed with either the routings themselves or the setup of work center(s).

The Mfg Fixed and Variable Lead Time fields are mainly used for MRP to determine how long it should plan for the requirement date of components if it is doing so against a planned MRP MO versus a real MO (which will use actual scheduled dates).

    Thanks,

    Try changing to Forward infinite.

I do not use manufacturing module much, but my understanding is that for Backward Infinite, you set the Due Date and GP calculates the Start Date by working backwards.

Since you are setting the Start Date and want to calculate the Due Date, I think if you use Forward Infinite and defined Mfg. Lead time of 3 days, GP will calculate the Due Date "forward" from the Start Date.

    Hope this helps.
