Austrian localization configuration

Hi all,

Does the demo Cronus company of AT database (BC25) have the finance setup done, so that it meets the local finance and tax regulations?

I am going to deploy BC25 in a company located in Austria. I will of course take the AT database as the core BC database, but I am just not sure if the fininance setup is already done in the demo company of AT database?

I have already done BC implementation for the German company, so I guess the localization of AT company should be similar to the German one.

    Hello,

I understand that Cronus company, come preconfigured with a W1(depending on the country) applicable to several countries. You do not have a specific configuration for a certain country.

    I hope I can help.

    Regards,

Yes, the environment Microsoft is responsible for local packages is all set up after creation.
    More details:
Dynamics 365 Business Central: Countries/regions where Microsoft provides the regulatory compliance and other local functionality (First-party localization)
Business Central 2024 wave 2 (BC25.3): Configuration packages for setup and evaluation data has been deprecated (The method of creating demo/sample data has changed)

    Thanks.

Yes, the demo Cronus company in the AT (Austria) database for Business Central 2023 Wave 1 (BC25) includes basic localization elements required for Austrian regulatory compliance. However, it is not production-ready and does not contain a complete financial setup suitable for a live environment.
    Key Points:
    1. Austrian Localization Features Included:
      • VAT and tax posting setup for Austria.
      • Preconfigured VAT statements and VAT reports aligned with Austrian standards.
      • Country-specific formats for addresses and banking (SEPA support included).
      • Standard chart of accounts (SKR-04 style) adapted for Austria.
      • Standard templates for documents (in German language).
    2. Limitations of the Demo Cronus Company:
      • It contains sample data and non-final configuration.
      • The General Ledger setup (fiscal year, number series, posting periods) may need review and adjustment.
      • Bank accounts, real tax rates, vendor/customer classifications, and user permissions must be completed based on actual business requirements.
      • Certain compliance reports may require manual setup or AL customization depending on your client’s industry.
    3. Recommended Actions Before Go-Live:
      • Review and finalize the General Ledger Setup and VAT Posting Setup.
      • Confirm or adjust the chart of accounts according to the company’s needs.
      • Set up electronic VAT reporting (UVA) if required (check for local extensions or third-party apps).
      • Configure date formats, document layouts, and language translations for external documents.
      • Ensure compliance with Austrian audit file (E-Bilanz / SAF-T AT) if applicable.
    4. Similarity to German Localization:
      • Austrian and German localizations are similar in structure (both use German language, SKR-based CoA, SEPA, etc.), but legal reporting requirements differ, especially around VAT declaration formats, electronic filing, and audit exports.

    Conclusion
You can use the AT database as your base, but the Cronus company requires further setup and review to ensure it complies with all Austrian financial regulations. It is strongly recommended to use it as a starting point and then either:
    • Run through the setup checklist manually, or
    • Use the RapidStart Services package (or Configuration Package) tailored for Austria to accelerate setup.
Let me know if you need a setup checklist or assistance in configuring the tax and finance modules for Austria.
