GP 2010 What's New - Lookups

I'm just going through the GP 2010 documentation and I found a new feature with lookups, but I don't know how to make use of the feature.  According to the documentation, "You can define and save a default lookup view for your master records by selecting the Set as Default View option from the View menu or using the right-click menu in the lookup window".  I don't see the View menu, nor does anything happen when I right click from the lookup windows.  Has anyone been able to make use of this new feature?

    Hi Kari,

I've taken a screenshot of where the 'View' menu is located. You can access it here:

    Kind regards,

    Hi Leslie,

Thanks very much for the screen shot.  When I click on the View button, I would expect to see something in the drop down menu such as Save as default, but I don't see anything like that.  Have you been able to set a default view in GP 2010?  Also, according to the documentation, I should be able to remove inactive accounts from the lookup window?  Do you know where I would do this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

    Hi Kari,

Here is the a link to Mohammad R. Daoud's blog. He has several articles about lookups and GP 2010.

That blog link doesn't explain anything.  If a user wants to create a view that shows Item number and Item description (not the short description) and sort by description, is this possible without reverting to custom coding?

I spent an hour or so trying and have yet to find a way.   I think it will require custom coding.  Disappointed they added the saved view feature and still do not allow it.   Anyone finds a way, please update us.   It is still just an extra click under the Additional Sorts.

I'm recently revisiting this topic for our end users. Has anyone found a way to code this?

Get Ethotech's free application called SmartSort. You can use a SmartList favorite to default your lookups. You can set it for the System down to the user.

It's a fabulous product and I think will give you what you need.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
