Hi There,

Did anyone came across where you need to make the posting process automated, I am looking for a scheduled task to run and post the specific batches which needs to be posted. I will really appreciate your input on this.

Could be please be specific on the process that u want to automate(sales, purchase etc...). i have automated the sales process till packing slip and now i am working on automatic ledger postings also(ie invoicing).

Hi Prakash,

I was looking for Automating Sales batches as well as Purchasing batches, there should not be any human intervention, I should be able to schedule it and it should run appropriately, if the batches are there then post it, if not then do nothing. your help is highly appreciated.

Unfortunately, Farooque, there is no database-level means outside of the GP interface to automate sales or purchasing posting. This has been requested of Microsoft many times, but it would be a very difficult endeavor to undergo, and Microsoft has had to put other priorities first.

However, you can create a Dexterity custom that monitors for a certain batch to post, or certain other conditions, and can automate posting via the interface. The disadvantage to this is:

A session of GP must be running

If any error happens during posting, that unmonitored session will hang up and posting will stop.

This is sometimes more trouble than a benefit. The most common solution is to have an employee of the client monitor a Sales Smartlist for transactions to be posted, and to do it throughout the day.

Hi,

Have a module that has been developed that automates the posting of Great Plains batches with no manual intervention.

This is ideal for all organisations that have batches within their system that require regular posting. Posting batches automatically ensures that all transactions are reflected in the Great Plains General Ledger without delay.

This includes posing for series GL,RM, PM, IV SOP & POP. A batch prefix can be specified so that only certain batches are posted. Provides the option to fetch and post all batches itself. Allows standard Great Plains batches to be posted without requiring users to post the batch.

We use a company in South Africa calles Parity, www.parity.co.za.

They have build a product that will suite your needs.

When you communicate to them tell them Braam from Datacentrix recommended it.

The module I refer to in the post is from Parity. They develop great applications for GP and we try to use their products on site frequently.
