Solution Import Failed, An item with the same key has already been added.

Hi all, I'm trying to import a solution but getting an error that an item with the same key has already been added.  I have checked all the new field names (case-sensitive) against existing ones but can't find the issue.  I pulled out the XML files from the default solution and the custom solution into excel and done comparisons using the EXACT function, but found everything matches.  Our IT partners are trying to import the solution into our test environment but are consistently getting errors.

Is there any way I can attach my excel file with the custom solution / default solution / Import log? Would that help someone help me solve this?

Thanks

Seems you are using onpremise , can you please check CRM application server windows event viewer log. You may get complete error details over there to identify the duplicate items.

A bit more challenging but the next best step is to run the comparative solutions through CMD FC (file compare) and REALY find the differences -- unless someone can recommend a good XML comparer utility.  Last time I saw this is because someone created fields in either system, but with different data types.

You will probably have to export one entity at a time to run the comparisons.  Full solution will probably fail or give useless results:

    -------------------

    c:\>FC customizations1.xml customizations2.xml > results.txt

REM these are pulled from the solution.zip

    -------------------

fyi, custom entities get a 5-digit number (e.g. 10022) and it is not a problem if those do not match from one to the other.

PS- ALWAYS create in the dev instance; NEVER create in test, uat or prod.
