OBDC Data Source on GP webclient

Hello All,

I am new to the community ad GP so please forgive my ignorance if this question sounds obvious.

I installed GP 2013 on a win serv 2008 r2 and it works fine. I just installed GP web Client (standalone) on the same machine but I cant log in to GP because the Datasource drop down is empty. it is not on the Desktop Client and  the desktop client still works. I have tried creating a new ODBC data source but still doesn't work.

Any ideas on the way forward?

Is your operating system 64-bit? If so, create a new ODBC in 32-bit driver.

To access the 32 bit drivers:

    1. Open the file from below location.

    C:\Windows\SysWoW64\odbcad32.exe

    2. Now create a 32 bit odbc using odbcad32.exe  and check again.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Thank you for your response,

Yes, My OS is 64 bit 2008 R2. I just created a 32 bit ODBC connection and it didnt work.

Any other ideas?. I'm trying to create a 64 bit ODBC to see if that works

Have you provided the correct SQL server(GP Instance) name while installing web client?

Please verify the server name and re-install with appropriate GP SQL server instance name in below screens.

This is very strange because all this is doing is pulling from your machine that has session service installed on it or in your case the only machine.

Creating a 64-bit connection isn't going to work because GP uses 32-bit. What driver are you using for your ODBC connection?

I put in the name of the server computer in this spot

You  mean I should put in the name of the SQL instance (MSSQLSERVER)

I will try reinstalling and see if jthat helps

    THanks

Still Didnt Work. What do you mean by GP instance name?

GP instance means, SQL server instance which is used for GP installation.

Create a 32 bit ODBC driver for your 64-bit operating system with following below link and try again.

    Hello,

Thank you. I finally solved it. I was unable to create a 32 bit ODBC but I discovered that if you install GP afresh and you put in the name of your SQL server (to automatically create an ODBC connection), that connection will be a 32- bit connection.

o i uninstalled GP and re-installed with that setting and it worked!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

    Hello,

I read you article here community.dynamics.com/.../adding-new-users-to-access-gp-2013-web-client.aspx.

Does this imply that you cannot login to GP webclient if your computer is not a member of the Windows domain where GP WebClient is installed?

because I am able to log in from the server computer (cloud) directly but I cannot access GP web client from an external computer on the internet out side of the domain.

    I get this error

If that is the case, how doe a mac client log in to the system? Please can you shed more light on this?

    Regards
