Contact Last Name attribute limitations?

Hi everyone,

I have increased the maximum length of last name attribute in Contact to 210.

Upon creating a new contact with last name greater than 150 symbols I get a generic SQL error. I tried tracing and the actual error is "Crm Exception: Message: Generic SQL error., ErrorCode: -2147204784, InnerException: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Operation failed. The index entry of length 948 bytes for the index 'ndx_ContactCover' exceeds the maximum length of 900 bytes."

Is there any way to overcome this limitation?

Thank you in advance :)

    Hi,

900 is the maximum size of SQL indexes, but I am wondering why is the error happening when you are adding data (and not when you were updating the metadata for that column).. Do you have any additional "keys" defined for the contact entity where LastName attribute would be a part of the key?

    Hi Alex,

I have a key for contact entity but it does not include last name attribute. I have a feeling it has to do something with all the yomi fields but I am not sure yet

What if I create a plug-in to replace yomi fields with empty string on create of a contact?
