I'm having 9 years of core experience in logistics operations (warehouse and transportation), now I want to pursue my full-time career in D365 SCM only on AWS and Transportation modules(for now) for which I already have 2 years experience (intermediate), why only these two modules bcz I'm good these two and aware of end to end operations, from product life cycle, storage, vehicle, contracts etc.

Now the question is how fast I can adopt to D365 SCM, what are the possibilities on cracking the interview, in the future is there any scope for me to be in production management roles(not into implementation or support).

    Hi,

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, I'm not able to understand exactly what you are asking here. Is your question related to the Dynamics 365 SCM product or your possible career opportunities? What exactly do you mean by "cracking the interview" and "to be in production management roles"?

With your 9 years of logistics operations experience and 2 years of D365 SCM exposure in Advanced Warehouse and Transportation modules, you already have a strong foundation. Since you understand end-to-end warehouse and transportation processes, adapting further to D365 SCM should be much faster for you compared to someone without domain experience.

Your chances of cracking interviews are good, especially for functional SCM roles, because companies value real operational knowledge along with system expertise. If you continue improving your hands-on knowledge in configurations, business scenarios, and integrations, you can grow quickly in this space.

Also, there is definitely future scope for moving into product management roles rather than staying only in implementation or support. Your domain expertise combined with D365 SCM knowledge can become a major advantage in the long run.

With 9 years of core logistics operations experience, you already have a very strong foundation for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, especially in Warehouse Management and Transportation Management. Many professionals learn the system technically, but fewer understand real operational challenges end to end — and that practical knowledge becomes a big advantage during implementations, process discussions, and business-side roles.

Since you already have around 2 years of D365 SCM exposure and are focused on WMS and Transportation modules, your transition can be faster compared to someone starting from scratch. If you continue working consistently on hands-on learning, business scenarios, testing, configurations, and process flows, you can become interview-ready within a few months depending on the depth of your current knowledge.

For interviews, companies usually look for:

    • Real business process understanding
    • Ability to explain warehouse and transportation workflows
    • Knowledge of inbound/outbound processes
    • Load planning, routes, waves, location directives, mobile device flows, inventory movement, etc.
    • Ability to connect system functionality with actual operations

Your operations background can help you stand out because you can explain not just “how the system works” but also “why businesses use it.”

Regarding future scope, yes — there is definitely potential to move into production management or operational leadership roles in the future, especially if you continue building broader SCM knowledge over time. Many organizations value professionals who understand both business operations and ERP systems. Even if you are not interested in implementation or support right now, your D365 SCM expertise can still open opportunities in digital operations, supply chain transformation, warehouse excellence, and process management roles.

    My suggestion would be:

    • Continue strengthening WMS and Transportation deeply first
    • Learn related SCM integrations gradually
    • Practice real business scenarios instead of only technical navigation
    • Stay updated with Microsoft release features and automation trends

Your combination of logistics operations + D365 SCM experience is already a strong career direction.
