I'm having the same issue.  Did you ever get it resolved?

    Dave,

I am still having the issue. I have (2) AD's with no trust between them in my Hosting clould.

The CRM platform is in the public facing Hosting AD, my internal Email (Exch 2007) is in the private space in my hosting cloud. Their are no trusts between them and I think the GUID mismatches are the issue.

.....One ID for CRM , One ID for email..two different AD's.

I am in the middle of procuring some expert / SME consultants.

Stay tuned as I will update.

Just in case, did you configured IFD on your CRM server? This is a requirement to be able to connect a out-of-domain client to a CRM server.

Note that the when IFD is deployed, you configure only the prefix of the target Url. So if you configured crm.company.com, and your organization name is Contoso, the url that you want to enter in your outlook client is https://contoso.crm.company.com and your DNS should be configured to point to the same server as crm.company.com...

    Thanks Mecure...

    Ques about the DNS...

Which DNS? internal (active directory) or extrenal (My ISP)?

My External DNS points to the IP of my server .... exmple: crm.domain.net   I can reach it fine via Web Browser.

I can also reach each ORG too... Examples:

    1. etc..

My internal DNS has a dynamic Arp listing in the DNS table for my CRM. No static entry has been made...yet

The AD DNS part in the IFD guide is not very clear to me.

If the AD DNS needs to be set, what values are set for each entity???

    1. Server Name = the AD (internal) or ISP (external) ???
    2. IP =  the AD (internal) / ISP (external) ???

A good detailed example would be very helpful to me...For instance using these values.

    1. ISP DNS:  crm.domain.net   (maps to registered IP)
    2. AD DNS (ARP): crm1.jakdomain.com  (maps to internal IP)  - no static DNS set

    Help....!

    Thanks in advance.

If you are accessing CRM using a computer that is not a part of the domain (so it's not using an IP that you configured using the IFD Tool) like

Workstation -> User's ISP -> The Internet -> External CRM IP -> Internal CRM

You are using the IFD version. So you must configure the External DNS, for your organization (orgname.crm.domain.net) to point to your external address (crm.domain.net) that is natted to you internal CRM server. CRM will automatically use the right Organization, based on the URL that you used (ie. orgname).

If you are accessing CRM using a computer that is a part of the domain (so it's using an IP that you configured using the IFD Tool)

Computer -> Internal Network -> Internal CRM

You are using the OnPremise, and there is not DNS entry to be changed.

I inderstand the methodology behind the ISP DNS value mapped to the registerd IP then NAT'd (via FW) to the internal IP addres of the CRM. That picece works.

I dont understand when you say (see bold underline)

.... for your organization (orgname.crm.domain.net) to point to your external address (crm.domain.net) that is natted to you internal CRM server.

I can't map a name to name in my ISP. My "desitination" choice is an IP.

Can I have TWO DNS entries to the same IP ? is that what you mean or....

do you mean point the orgname.crm.domain.net  to the registered external IP address of my CRM Server?

    (This is the confusing part)

Sorry for my lack of experience in the area for IFD CRM.

    <exhale>...thx again in advance.

Exactly, you all your organization DNS should point to the crm server's external IP.

So, crm.domain.net, orgname1.crm.domain.net, orgname2.crm.domain.net etc.. should point to the same external ip address in your external DNS server. And you should use the organization url in the outlook client when asking for the CRM external URL.

... and be sure that you can access your organization by using http://orgname.crm.domain.net, and that a form appears, not the standard windows authentication popup.

If it's the windows authentication popup, the IFD is not correctly configured.
