Does anyone know what has become - in the context of BC - of the Extended demo data we had on NAV? You know (10) Dynamics NAV Extended Demo Data - Dynamics 365 Business Central Community

I am missing this also ... so I have a trick

1) Install a BC On-Prem version with the demo database

2) Run the BC On-Prem to cloud migration into a Demos.microsoft.com BC Demo environment

3) Do your demos like you used to

You can re-run the migration from the same server into any number of demo environments too. We do this relatively regularly.

Also - we keep the on-prem running on a server here and if we need to add some more demo examples of our own we can add them locally and then refresh the on-prem to cloud update and voila - updated data

There is an additional configuration package that you can import.

You can refer to below page.

It's not exactly the same as NAV demo data though.

Hi Luc,

We haven't updated this extended database for some time and don't have such plans.

But we are looking into "demo data" problem right now. So I would like to understand the scenario when you need database with that many transactions?

Same question to other participants, who recommended using on-premises database or extended configuration package (sorry about confusing naming) - what you are missing most in the demo data used in Saas (Cronus Furniture).

Thanx for stepping in Andrei. Funny, but I seem not to recall the exact reason. Nevertheless, I am running frequently into questions regarding data sets, small and big, and how to create them. From a maintenance and test automation perspective I think config packages are not the best to have. I would rather have code doing this and as such the DDT (demo data tool) MS is using would be a great one to be shared with use to let us learn from it, but also adjust/extend to our needs.

Might my memory clear up again I will come backup to share the reason behind my initial post here.
