when a user tries to update a form such as a journal by editing in excel, they frequently receive an error message 'another user has already updated the record'.

this occurs even when no other users are in the environment. how to prevent this from occurring?

Are users accessing the same batch typically? It is a solid idea to have a batch per user. This stops the type of messaging you’re seeing here.
