CRM Data migration Testing (on Premises)

Hello Experts,

I was asked to do some CRM Data migration testing .Are there any tools to test this Data Migration or is this done manually ?What do i need to include in my test plans ?What are the key elements i need to focus on for testing ?

    Hello Bommagani,

    Data migration testing is an important function in any project. We created a custom .Net tool which can do this validation for us. This tool is utilized to verify data from source to destination. As in data migration many tools like Scribe, SSIS, Manual etc are utilized to import the data from source to destination. But questions are how it can be confirmed whether data imported in CRM is same and accurate as  it was in source. Also how the data can be checked record by record and field by field after migration from source to destination. This tool not only check record by record but also field by field from source to destination. Curently this tool is for MS SQL as source and MS Dynamics CRM Online as Destination. In future release different source (Excel, flat file, My SQL, Siebel, SAP etc) and Destination (MS Dynamics CRMOn Premise, MS Dynamics AX)   can be implemented.

    High level logic: Create a hashcode value of a particular record and after migration also generate a new hashcode, if that matches then record is good otherwise it can flag that record for further analysis.
