We would like to leverage the release policy in ECM to create engineering products.
A lot of products have very similar routes and formulas, which is why we want to use the Copy route/formula function from the release policy.
At engineering product creation, we would like the route and formula to auto copy from the release policy’s template item.
Test 1:
Only 1 legal entity (RCM).
Setups: Engineering product category, with a release policy and a template item.
Template item has an approved route and formula.
Created a new engineering product and assigned it to that category.
All information was copied over from the template item, except for the route and formula.
When creating a new engineering item in the same legal entity (RCM), we expected the route and formula to copy over from the template item, which did not work.
Questions:
At engineering product creation, can the route and formula auto copy from the release policy’s template? If yes, what is the D365 process?
Do we need 2 separate legal entities for that to work? Or can we do it within 1 legal entity?
Must the template item be an engineering product? Should the route and formula of the template item be created in an engineering change order?
