Hi Friends,

I have created system view through advanced search and need to create this as a lookup view for contact.

Can anyone suggest me how could I achieve this?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Parashuram,

Regarding this: 'but I mean to say is could not see/use that personal view as a lookup view'.

->  You can't use a personal view as the default view of a lookup field, as it is a system customization.

->  If the lookup view you referred here is the system view with type = 'Lookup View', no you cant use the view you created, you can only modify the existing OOB one.

Hope I've made myself clear. The rest of the things we are pretty much on the same page!

    Regards,

    Abby

Yes, you're right Abby.We cannot create system view from advance find, that view would be personal one.I could see this view in the mentioned path but I mean to say is could not see/use that personal view as a lookup view.

    Hi Friend,

The link Ravi provided is really good.

Yes, Ravi is right. There can be only one Lookup view created by System, and you can't create extra one.

When you search for a lookup field on a form,  you can change view displayed by setting default view. This is useful when you want to display different columns for different lookup fields.

It sounds odd to me that you can't see the view in list. Do you mind checking whether this view shows under Setting->Customization->Customize System->Entity -> expand the one you worked on-> Views?

Note, I don't think you can create System view from advance find.

    Regards,

    Abby

Thanks Abby for replying... but I am not able to see my new system view in the default view.I think as Ravi answered we cannot create new lookup view instead we need to customize existing one.

    Hi Friend,

After you created the view and insert the new lookup field.

    1. On the form editor, double-click on the lookup field to open Field Properties
    2. Under 'Additional Properties', set view created as 'Default View'

    See picture:

    Hi Parashuram,

You cannot create custom lookup view but you can change the oob lookup view. You can also use any of your custom public view in your lookup.

    Check this:

    Hope this helps.
