Dear Team,

I have bit issue in hierarchy security. Here i have created custom position hierarchy according to my Org chart. Here i have single person handling multiple position.
e.g. User-A is and Account Exec. and Purchase Exec. too.
How can i define the same in custom position hierarchy, and allow user to choose there position while login or after login.

    Hi Abhijit,

how about creating multiple accounts for the same person? That way he/she can login in the correct role for certain tasks.

Do you have only one person, like user x as an Account Exec. and Purchase Exec?

Or is there an X (Account Exec. and Purchase Exec)

    and an Y(only Account Exec.)?

if you use the "position hierarchy" rather than the "Manager hierarchy", you can create a position like "AccountPurchase" Exec and assign to X

    technet.microsoft.com/.../dn832142.aspx

you can set AccountPurchase to be parent of both "account" staff and  "Purchase"

to let those users to change their own positions you will need to give them some very high privileges.

By very nature - Org charts are hierarchical and so you cannot be in multiple positions in that hierarchy and as such you can only in a single Business Unit and have only a single Manager.

It really depends on what you are trying to achieve using the position - if it is purely for access to records then you would need to assign a primary position in the business unit hierarchy that makes the most sense and then add the user to a team that is located in a different business unit with a role assigned to the team that grants them the access they need.

See this excellent white paper - www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

    Hope this helps,

    Scott
