How to control a Timer in a custom entity regarding business hours

Dear CRM community,

I would like to start the timer in a form when a field contains data. But, it has to be paused when the current time is different of business hours of the company (Monday - Friday / 9h - 18h). Logically, the timer has to carry on the progress when the current time is during the business hours. After 48 hours passed only during the business hours, the status of the record is "Overdue".

I can't use the usefull SLA functionality because I need the Case entity for an other need.

I would like to know the best way for realizing this operation in the standard of CRM Online 2015 (and soon 2016). If it's not, could you give me some links, I did not find relevent things.

Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

We had a same requirement on CRM 2013 but as you said, SLAs work on case entity only and in 2013 there was no pause functionality. So we had to design/develop our own SLA using entities, workflows and JavaScript for timer. You have to develop the JavaScript timer as per your needs where you can check when to pause a time and when not to.
