i am getting this error while creating a new customer :

    The customer with the No is already exits hence you are getting this error.
    Either enter customer No manually or go to customer no series and update last no used to C0058.

    Hello,

    It indicates that a customer with the number C0058 already exists in the system. This typically occurs when you attempt to create a new customer using a manually entered number that has already been used.

    To resolve this, you can either choose a different, unique customer number or configure the system to auto-generate customer numbers using the appropriate No. Series. To do this, navigate to the No. Series page, locate the series linked to customers, and ensure it is set to generate numbers automatically. Then, while creating a new customer, simply leave the No. field blank so the system assigns the next available number.

    There are two ways to handle this: One is to update the Last No. in the No. Series as mentioned by others; the other is to enable Manual Nos., allowing you to enter the number manually.

    You can avoid this error by checking the No. Series setup in Business Central. There are three options to resolve it:

    • Allow Manual Nos. – Go to the customer number series and check the box for Allow Manual Nos. This lets you manually enter a unique number when creating a new customer.
    • Check Last Used Number – It’s possible the last used number (e.g., C0058) is causing the issue. If it's already used or blocked, clear or update the Last Used No. field in the No. Series to continue.
    • Create a Separate No. Series – If the above solutions don’t fit your process, consider creating a new No. Series specifically for a certain type of customer. Then assign it accordingly in the customer templates or setup.
     

    This should help you bypass the error and maintain control over your customer numbering.
