Dynamics Approval using Microsoft 365 credentials

Posted on by 5

I'm with a local microsoft partner to implement Dynamic (Online) version at my office place. my office already use Microsoft O365 subscription for email, office, sharepoint and other requirements.

One of the requirement I placed was to use the O365 credentials to validate the payment approval requests raised by the O365.

Although they agreed to provide the solution as requested, now at the stage of finalising the functional requirements, communicated to me that the O365 credentials can't be used to validate the approval in D365, instead D365 limited used subscription need to be used to approve.

I'm not sure this is actually the case. I have seen MS flows being used in approvals together with D365. I believe my requirement could be met. Without it I will fall in to difficult situation to have limited user subscriptions purchased for all the approvers, also not being able to track if the approval delegate the approving authority to a non D365 person within the organisation.

I would appreciate if you could help me out with the situation.

I've seen MS Flow Approval workflows could be used to seek approval from the manager. here the manager is defined based on the organizational hierarchy. Also I have seen MS Teams has an approval tab where each approval is tracked.

So I'm thinking in the same lines, to use the approval matrix in D365 to direct the approvals to the relevant manager via above means and retrieve the approvals. Accordingly a bulk payment process file to be generated and uploaded directly to the bank via backend. Similarly for Purchase and Job orders, such document is raised the approval to be sought via the same approval flow.

    My concerns are

    - Something like this can be done?,

    - Any system limitations?

    Hi MafazAnsar,

Could you tell me what app you are  using in D365?
